Chalmers is located in the city of Gothenburg, the heart of the Swedish automotive industry with an active eco-system for transport research. Gothenburg is home to several large automotive manufacturers including Volvo AB and Volvo Cars, a technology hub for aerospace, a dynamic start-up scene, and the largest port in Scandinavia. These challenges include efficiency in transport and logistics systems, transport safety and security, and developing climate neutral and environmentally friendly transport, mobility, or public transport systems.
We mobilize our research community around three key areas: Logistics and personal mobility, Transport technologies, and Traffic and transport safety. The Transport community is linked to several centres, in diverse areas such as electromobility, traffic safety, logistics, catalysis (Centres | Chalmers), and strategic partnerships with industry (Strategic partnerships | Chalmers). Our researchers have access to high-quality research infrastructure (Research infrastructures | Chalmers). In addition, our active collaboration with Swedish industry and local governing bodies creates test beds and research utilization opportunities for our researchers.
