About the role and this vacancy:
The position of Assistant Principal - Pastoral is vital to the success of the school. The Assistant Principal - Pastoral is part of the school's Management Team and works in close cooperation with the Principal and Assistant Principal - Academics in analysing results, coordinating all aspects of the school's activities and together developing the school for continuing success.
The Assistant Principal - Pastoral leads the school in Student Care affairs. You will build upon and implement behaviour and welfare systems in the school, enabling teachers to teach and students to learn.
In cooperation with the school's Principal you will lead the Pastoral work within the school, working closely with, leading, and developing the Student Health Team (elevhälsoteamet), Student Care Team (elevstödjarna) and Heads of Years (arbetslagsledarna).
You will be responsible for managing staff and students on a daily basis as well as being responsible for maintaining our high expectations of discipline and order.
You will ensure that school is a safe learning environment for all students, including working with the school's Plan Against Abusive Treatment (Plan mot Kränkande Behandling) and ensuring all parts of this plan are being followed and evaluated.
You will play a large role in collaboration with parents, either via individual parent meetings, or via work with PTA (Parent Teacher Association).
The Assistant Principal - Pastoral assists with staff development and salary talks, as well as staff training and professional development.
Who are you?
The ideal candidate has teaching qualifications, a proven track record in Student Care support along with leadership experience or middle management.
The ability to communicate in both Swedish and English is of high importance.
You should have experience implementing both preventative and behavioural practices and policies within schools, as well as experience collaborating with and leading Student Care and Student Health teams to ensure students' best interests are being met.
A strong knowledge of state and municipal policy documents including the Swedish School Law and the Swedish curriculum (LGR11/LGR22) is also an important merit.
As you will have a large role in the school's Systematic Quality Work, you should have a genuine interest in educational development.
As a member of the school's Management Team you must also be a proven leader with great competence in recruiting, supporting and developing staff within the school.
You should be a firm believer that clarity in leadership, discipline, and a high degree of structure provide the basic conditions for focusing on education and achieving outstanding results.
You also need to be a flexible team player dealing with tasks that are challenging but at the same time rewarding. You should pride yourself on being a visible and approachable leader who works hard to be an active and positive participant in the school community. Our international atmosphere, with teachers from many countries, contributes to an energetic and stimulating workplace.
If you have completed or started Rektorsutbildningen, this is a strong merit.
About IES Huddinge:
IES Huddinge is strengthening its Management Team. We have high expectations and high standards. We are located in Huddinge, a short walking distance from Flemingsberg train station and only 15 minutes from Stockholm C.
The school opened in 2013 and has 630 students in grades 6-9 and 60 staff. The school has high results, a safe environment and many students in cue wanting to start here.
