Axis is now looking for an ASIC Development Engineer to join our Chip Platform team within the Research & Development department, at our headquarters in Lund, Sweden.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
As an ASIC engineer you will be involved in design, verification and synthesis of our chips. You will implement new ideas and ways of working as well as optimize the current state-of-art acceleration of advance algorithms. Collaborate with your colleagues and engineers of other teams such as software developers and algorithm designers. The work can also include other responsibilities such as cooperation with partners about evaluation, integration and configuration of their IPs, such as DDR, GPU, PCIe etc. We are a well-established team and in most cases able to adopt to personal interests.
We always enhance our design environment, therefor we continuously evaluates new tools and try out new methodologies.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for highly motivated engineers with excellent programming and scripting skills. Either newly graduated Electrical, Computer or Physics science or with previous ASIC experience.
Skills seen as a merit:
Programming and scripting skills
Understanding of ASIC architecture
Good at modelling and understand complex systems
Good understanding of embedded systems and hardware/software interaction
SystemC/TLM
RTL design, Verilog and/or VHDL
Synthesis, floorplaning and timing verification
Power reduction methodologies and tools
ASIC verification

Even though we implement electronics, a software engineer interested in learning the art of hardware could be a suitable background for this position, since some of the tasks involve complex software.
CHIP Platforms Team
We are responsible for ASIC and FPGA design and the contact towards external ASIC partners and IP providers. Large and critical IPs for our application are developed in-house. The more general parts of a SoC is developed in cooperation with external partners. We perform evaluation and are responsible for the selection of ASIC technologies, platform partners and IPs.
We have a long history of designing ASICs, the first ASIC was developed in the late 80s. We have developed a highly sophisticated ASIC development environment, which in many ways is leading edge in the world. We file patents and publish papers and get invitations to present them at EDA conferences.
We are in the forefront of technology nodes and stretching performance and power requirements in our designs.
