hela Sverige AstraZeneca is now looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Animal Technician to join he Laboratory Animal Science (LAS) function at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden. LAS is a global function within Innovative Medicines and Early Development (IMED), AstraZeneca's small molecule biotech unit that deliver candidate drugs into late-stage clinical development. The vision for LAS is to apply expertise in animal science to advance research innovation and quality, animal welfare and compliance. We do this through an organization of world class LAS specialists that supports all in vivo studies in partnership with diverse multi-disciplinary teams across the company's therapy areas. An important mission for LAS is promoting animal ethics, welfare, and the 3Rs (reduce, replace and refine), linking quality science and animal welfare together. As an Animal Technician you will get the opportunity to work in a team with a passion for innovation and work closely with colleagues in delivering innovative in vivo technologies across AstraZeneca. The career level of the position will depend on the experience of the successful candidate.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
LAS delivers internal in vivo studies, breeding of transgenic mouse strains, daily animal care welfare. In the role of Animal Technician, you will:
* Be responsible for the care and welfare of laboratory animals and routine facility operations tasks and the delivery of high quality laboratory animals for scientific experimentation;
* Work as part of a team and capable of working flexibly across different areas;
* Participate in provision of weekend and out of hours support;
* Ensure that work is performed in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and compliance standards, e.g. Good Laboratory Standard (GLS);
Essential Requirements
* Animal technology qualification, University degree in a scientific field or relevant experience;
* Extensive experience in working with laboratory rodents and strong interest in animal care, husbandry and welfare;
* Ability to perform work independently to high levels standard in animal science on a consistent basis;
* Understand principles and concepts associated with Laboratory Animal Science, particularly on animal behaviour, welfare and the 3Rs;
* Strong communication skills;
* Excellent English and Swedish, both spoken and in writing
Desirable Requirements
* Knowledge and experience with the breeding of laboratory rodents;
* Work experience in AAALAC-accredited animal facilities;
* Work experience in animal facilities in the pharmaceutical Industry;
