Smurfit kappa Group believe that a circular business model is the model of the future, circular economy is therefore the model we want to spread throughout our supply chain. Stakeholder are mutually interested to minimize waste completely, and close the further loops of circularity, which is energy recovery and landfill. We are engaged to continuously improve the business model of circularity and together with research implement circular economy initiatives in our supply chain.

Help Smurfit Kappa Sweden & Norway to apply the circular economy business model and initiatives downstream in operational levels. Our goal is to preclude landfill and foster a circular culture in all our supply chain operations. Including procurement, design & innovation, production, transportation, customer packaging (the usage of packaging). The source for actual waste differ in every operational stage, it can be caused by design structure, production methods, machine set-ups, finished goods waste, quality rejects from customers etc. The goal is to minimize waste and continuously develop the knowledge in every part of our supply chain.

Now it is time for the transition towards a Circular Economy at Smurfit Kappa Sweden & Norway, are you the right person to take part and be involved of this journey together with world leading packaging provider?

If you want to write you master thesis and help Smurfit Kappa in the early phase of Circular Economy adaption, apply with one focus area of your choice "Procurement", "Design & Innovation", "Production" or "Transportation".

Suitable background:

Candidates should be in the final year of their Master's studies. Candidates are expected to have:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering or other relevant technical field of study
Basic knowledge and interest in "Circular Economy".
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Description of thesis work:

The objective of the thesis is to look further in to the concept of circular economy and be a part the supply of sustainable packaging solutions. The aim and goal is to help Smurfit Kappa Sweden & Norway to adapt the concept in our supply chain operations, which are stated above.

Language: English or Swedish

Starting date: Late January or early February, 2020

Number of students: One or Two
