Division
Within the Division of Translational Medicine and Chemical Biology (Helleday laboratory), Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, Karolinska Institutet, the physical location will be at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) Stockholm.
Our vision, within the Helleday Laboratory, is to translate the findings from our basic research programmes on DNA repair and survival mechanisms within cancer cells, to identification of novel anticancer targets and development of anti-cancer drugs with minimal side-effects.
Our goal is to develop our hypotheses in preclinical models, and then proceed to study the effect and underlying mechanisms of new cancer treatments in patients. In order to do this, we have created an integrated translational strategy, with teams of scientists from a variety of disciplines taking our basic findings all the way from bench to bedside.
We are working in a dynamic research environment, which is well positioned to take advantage of the state-of-the-art platforms at SciLifeLab, we have several established and fruitful collaborations with Stockholm and Uppsala universities and many of our researchers have experience both from academia and the pharmaceutical industry. We are based at SciLifeLab, Karolinska Institutet, where we perform high-throughput screening, basic molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, systems biology, pharmacology and medicinal chemistry.
Today the research group consists of around 30 people. We now wish to expand this number with another 8-10 scientists to meet the ambitious milestones we have set for the next few years.

You will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality data in a timely manner, and work closely with medicinal chemists to enable iterative rounds of compound testing and compound optimisation.
Previous experience of cell-based assay development, screening and mechanism of action studies in an industrial setting is a requirement. A proven ability to troubleshoot screening equipment and assays will also be considered valuable as will previous experience in Biacore, HPLC and/or MS technology
Eligible applicants will have a well-documented track record of relevance to the employment. All the successful candidates will need a strong passion for daily experimental work and an aptitude for analysing, managing, interpreting and reporting data to the project team.
