Connectivity at Scania is one of the focus areas in Scania "driving the shift" strategy. At Connected Systems (EC) we work with enabling solutions with a span from the Telematics unit and functionality, the IoT solution with integration to Telecom providers and applications that form the base for all Connected Vehicle data used by services and solutions at Scania.
The department EC is now expanding with a Technical Manager in the area of connectivity solutions in the section for Connected Systems Platform (ECP)
What you will do
As Technical Manager you will be leading developments within an the area of Connectivity ((e.g. 2G/3G/4G/5G, BT, WIFI, ITS-G5...) as a strategic significance to Scania R&D. You will work cross-functionally on behalf of R&D's management and be responsible for pursuing technological, method and process development within your area. Your responsibility for pursuing issues and the significance of the strategic area for Scania is at a global level.
We want you to:
• Propose technical solutions and performance step of a modularised solution
• Initiate and participate in projects to ensure long-term competitiveness
• Identify gaps in competence, technology and tools
• Participate in relevant external forums for standardisation and legal requirements, such as ACEA, ETSI, GSR etc.
Who you are
You are a natural and proven technical leader. To succeed in this position, you need to be strong in cross-functional work, be communicative, show drive and initiative and be energized by challenges.
We are looking for a can-do mentality combined with an analytical mindset and structured way of working. An interest in the customer is important. To fit the expectations of the role you should:
• Have a MSc or/and probably a PhD in engineering or equivalent.
• Deep Experience and interested in Connectivity, IoT, Telecom, embedded systems, System Architecture, Cloud development (AWS) and operation of distributed systems.

• Good knowledge of English and Swedish is required.
You most likely have a PhD in engineering physics, electrical engineering or computer science, or the equivalent experience. In addition you are expected to have at least 10 years' experience from working with technical product development. Knowledge of the areas of Cloud Computing / IoT/ Connectivity / Telecom and/or the electrical system of (heavy) vehicles is a great advantage for this role.
