WaterAid is looking for a Grants Controller
WaterAid is looking for an experienced Grants Controller to oversee the financial management of earmarked grants. This is an important and exciting role within an organisation that makes a real difference. The Grants Controller will report to the Director of Finance and Administration and will work closely with the programme financing team and colleagues in the countries where WaterAid operates.
Your role
As the Grants Controller, you will be the link between the finance team and the programme financing team. You will support the teams in carrying out and further developing the work on budgeting and financial follow-up of programmes funded by our largest donors (institutional, foundations, and companies), both in Sweden and within the WaterAid federation.
Your responsibilities
Financial control, analysis and reconciliation of grants and projects, including budgets, reports, balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
Contacts with donors, partner organisations and federation members on budgets, financial reporting, grant payments, audits and donor compliance.
Guide and prepare project applications.
Advice on contract development.
Advice on internal control, contract compliance, financial risk management and donor requirements.
Development, implementation and training of routines, policies and instructions that strengthen financial systems, reporting quality and operational efficiency.
Support to partner CSO:s in strengthening financial systems, improving reporting quality and increasing audit readiness.
Collaboration with WaterAid federation colleagues on planning, management, follow-up and coordination of earmarked grants.
Participation in relevant internal and federation-level forums.

Personal qualities and qualifications
You have:
An academic degree in Business Administration.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience working with project monitoring and reporting as a controller.
Experience of working in an international organisation with focus on development cooperation.
Experience of managing grants from institutional donors and foundations, including deep understanding of donor requirements, compliance, budgeting, reporting and financial follow-up.
Experience of developing and improving financial routines, procedures and internal control systems.
Experience working with audits and liasing with auditors.
Experience of providing advisory support and capacity building to partner CSO:s in financial management, internal controls and institutional donor compliance.
Excellent knowledge of financial management systems and Excel.
Excellent ability to communicate financial information to non-financial colleagues in a clear way.

Strong merits
Experience of organisational development work with CSO:ss in low- and middle-income countries is considered a strong merit.

Conditions for the position
This is a full-time position (38 hour work week). Start date according to agreement. A 6-month probation period applies, followed by permanent employment.
WaterAid Sweden applies Fremia's collective agreement. We have a generous hybrid policy enabling work both from our office and home. However as this position requires regular contact with our colleagues in Stockholm, we would like you to spend a few days per week in the office.
