This is a hands-on role and requires leading the design and development of software systems to support existing and new product features. Responsibilities include architecting and developing systems that are high performance, secure, highly available, scalable to millions of users, reliable, supportable, and with good diagnostic capabilities.
Your job will see you:
• Working with the design, product management, editorial, and technology teams to visualize, define, and implement new mobile products of the highest caliber
• Gathering requirements from stakeholders and convert them into technical design documents.
• Working with external consultants and checking their code on a weekly basis as well as managing their overall progress.
You will bring:
• A strong understanding of object oriented software, design patterns, and fundamentals of software design
• Excellent communication and organizational skills. Prior experience in managing vendors is a bonus.
• Experience estimating and meeting software delivery schedules in a project-driven software development team during rapid development cycles and tight iteration schedules
• The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with design, product management, and business teams
• Proficiency with Linux, Mac OS X, GNU tools, scripting languages
• Five years or more experience in designing and programming software solutions in Java
• Experience in Java server programming

Required Technical Skills: Tomcat, Spring framework, Hibernate, JSTL, SOAP, ANT
Recommended skills: Stripes web framework, log4j, Apache Commons, XHTML-MP, Linux, Windows, MacOS, Web security, an understand test-driven development,MySQL
Bonus skills: C/C++
