Resident Manufacturing Engineering is a department within VCME, located in Volvo Cars Torslanda (VCT), Sweden, with main responsibilities to:
Implement running introductions at VCT plant according to set targets
Implement introduce and maintain quality-assured, effective and standardized production systems in the plant according to targets
Implement in cooperation with Commodity a process driven product development with focus on effective and quality secured production and robust design/process solutions
Increase commonality and share best practices by working together with VCT/VCG
The role VRT Manufacturing leader (Variability Reduction Team) belongs to CMQ (Current Model Quality) and is a core role of the Plant VRT structure in order to reduce Variability.
Main responsibility for the VRT Manufacturing leader is to:
To prioritize VRT actions and resources in-between concerns within the team.
To decide on ICA (Interim Containment Action) within the framework of Manufacturing, process responsibility and make recommendations and drive ICA outside the authority.
In the daily operation the VRT leader reports to Plant Management regardless of Manufacturing line organisation belonging.

The purpose of role VRT Manufacturing leader is to:
Ensuring that required Manufacturing competences are involved at site (Plant) in the DMA (Define Measure Analyse) phases of concern analysis and resolution for variability
VRT Manufacturing Leader is also being the main linkage for the VRT towards Manufacturing functions and Suppliers in addressing and follow-up of variability related concerns
Main Tasks:
Within the scope from plant incoming material (internal indicators) to 3MIS (Months In Service) (External indicators):
To lead and coach the Variability Reduction Team (VRT) to in the daily operation in cooperation with VRT R&D Leader at the Plant
Drive for quick ICA (Interim Containment Action) in close relation with VRT R&D Leader in order to secure both the Product & Process
Actively lead and perform analysis in the Define, Measure and Analyze phases, bringing the Manufacturing competences to the cross functional VRT. General outcome for these phases are: Critical X(s) identified, ICA, Root cause(s)
Drive for a PCA (Permanent Corrective Action) where root cause (-s) is variability related (Manufacturing process, Supplier process/design) towards Manufacturing functions and/or supplier
Prioritize actions and resources within the VRT, jointly with VRT R&D Leader & VRT Champion
