About Internationella Engelska Skolan
Internationella Engelska Skolan is a leading independent school group (friskola), reaching academic results far above average. It was founded in 1993 by Ms Barbara Bergström, a science teacher, originally from the US and over 25,000 students are currently enrolled in our 36 schools around the country and the organisation has close to 2500 members of staff. IES Jönköping has grown in size each year and in August 2019 we have 850 students in years 1-9, making this the largest compulsory school in Jönköping County.
We are a school that is focused on more than just tests, results and paperwork - Through "tough love" students learn manners, develop character, good behaviour, respect and responsibility to be fully prepared for the realities of independent study and the workplace. In other words, 'tough love' means helping students to realize their full potential by making each lesson and activity challenging and by providing regular homework and assessment. The core philosophy of the school can be summarized by three points: Mastery of the English Language, High Academic Expectations, and a Calm and Safe Learning and Teaching Environment. We have clear rules and expectations of our students.
We are truly an international school with half the staff and over half the students coming from outside Sweden and with half of the subjects being taught in English by native English speakers and half taught in Swedish by native Swedish speakers. We follow the Swedish curriculum and all school laws as set out by Skolverket.

Specific qualifications are a plus but not crucial.
As a cover teacher you need to be able to jump-in at short notice, so flexibility is essential.
You have to be hardworking, motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about teaching.
Previous teaching experience is desired and helpful but not obligatory.
You need to be able to understand instructions and lesson plans, and work in accordance with IES policy and ethos.
You must be a resident of Sweden and live within commuting distance from the school.

The employment offers hourly pay with a rate between 110-195kr/hour depending on tasks and position. You do not have to be a qualified teacher to apply for the position as a cover teacher, but it is a bonus.
