The landscape of video services is changing. High quality video for High-Definition (HD) TV, Blu-ray and HD camcorders have become mainstream and new technology for 3D and interactivity is about to enter our homes and mobile phones. Research area Multimedia Technologies at Ericsson Research is responsible for developing codecs and formats suitable for future video services. Our main focus is on next-generation compression formats.
As a researcher in the video group you will be part of a skilled team developing algorithms for High-Efficiency Video Coding, a new video codec currently standardized by MPEG and ITU-T. You will work on the forefront of video codec design with inventions and programming of new algorithms suitable for high-quality video and applications such as TV, video communication and Ultra-HD capture and display. Other areas of interest include free-viewpoint television as well as transport and storage of video
The work is done in close cooperation with other units within Ericsson as well as customers and other external partners.
Qualifications
You are a motivated person with a strong drive for innovation and team work. You should have knowledge of image/signal processing in general and video coding in particular. Experience in developing algorithms for video compression is meriting.
You should also have:
a Master of Science or equivalent degree
excellent programming skills (C, C++),
good communication skills (fluent in English)
