About The Program
The Infinera Metro Sweden R&D Trainee Program will have positions with a focus on one of two key areas within the company: software engineering and hardware engineering. Read more about the specific positions at our webpage by clicking the links.
The program will include fun and challenging tasks and activities which in the end will prepare its participants for a career within a modern production company.
Alongside with the program's activities together with your trainee colleagues and your teamleader, you will be hired at the department responsible for your trainee position and report to that manager, and will continue to do so after the program.
• Technical workshops/courses to become an expert within your field.
• Internship period abroad to get to now Infinera and our way of working.
• Internships with every department to gain a wider understanding of the company.
• Study visits to customers & vendors to understand the core of our products and what we do.
• Mentorship to gain concrete advice and support from an experienced engineer in your field.
• Social team activities to build a strong team spirit and have fun with your colleagues!
• Teamwork/Group dynamic workshops to develop your teamwork skills and understanding.
• Book club to reflect and learn from interesting literature and each other's thoughts.
• Group project to practice your newly gained knowledge together with your team mates.
Your profile
Candidates for the Infinera Metro Sweden Trainee program are recent Master of Science graduates within for example Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Design or Microelectronics. We want to create a dynamic group of mixed knowledge and personalities. We are though looking to find some key characteristics:

HARDWARE R&D TRAINEE
A Trainee position within Hardware is perfect if you are an analytical person who loves technical discussions with competent people and want to learn about fiber optic hardware. Infinera is to a large extent a hardware company and these positions give you a ticket to the core of the company's identity. Infinera is a product owning company within the area, and you will be a part of developing actual products that our customers will use. We have a great technical width and depth with unique inhouse-developed Optical modules and ASICs, including state-of-the-art DSP.
Hardware R&D Trainee - Opto (1 position)
As a Hardware Trainee with an Opto focus you will gain a deep understanding of fiber optics for telecom applications. You will work with highly educated and competent specialists from multiple Infinera sites. You will work with both the optical key technologies of the company, e.g. the PICs, as well as with advanced optical modules from leading vendors.
Hardware R&D Trainee - FPGA/Electronics Design (1 position)
As a Hardware Trainee with a FPGA/Electronics Design focus you will work with electronics and FPGAs. You will learn how to do the electronics design of our boards and develop FPGA's using Verilog, Modelsim and the Xilinx and Altera (Intel) design flow. You will evaluate your work in the HW-lab using modern state of the art instruments. You will work closely with highly educated and competent specialists within the area. You will meet with vendors and have a lot of international communication.
