NordGen - the Nordic Genetic Resource Center - is an institution under the Nordic Council of Ministers, working with conservation and sustainable utilization of farm animals, forest trees and agricultural plants, including environmental aspects. Our main objective is to sercure genetic diversity and thereby the biological basis of renewable resources. NordGen aims to be a leading international service and knowledge center for the management of genetic resources of farm animals, forest trees and plants. NordGen is responsible for the Nordic storage of seed propagated cultivated crops and administrates the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. Do you want to work with Plant Genetic Resources in a challenging and stimulating Nordic context?

NordGen has a vacancy for a competent and interested plant expert for a full time temporary position (for 10 month) at NordGen in Alnarp, Sweden. The job responsibilities will lie within our plant sector, today consisting of 10 colleagues. The primary responsibility will be on the cereal crops, where NordGen holds an extensive collection, which you are to conserve and to promote for sustainable utilization. Work tasks would amongst others be to register material, to perform inventories and update our databases, and would as well include a series of activities and projects on cereals. The work will be carried out in a Nordic and International environment.

Your qualifications:
• You have an educational background in plant biology, plant genetics or similar topics (preferably at PhD level), and experience from similar work.
• You have working experience within the area of cereals, and you are familiar with quality and cultivation issues.
• You have relevant knowledge of systematic botany and taxonomy.
• You are fluent in at least one Nordic language as well as English.
• You are independent and responsible.
• You possess good cooperation skills.
