hela Sverige Visa alla jobb hos British Embassy in Stockholm i Stockholm The British Embassy in Stockholm is looking for a political attaché maternity leave cover (9 - 12 months), with approximate starting date 20th October 2014.
Profile This is a varied and interesting job focussing on research and information-seeking, policy analysis, political reporting, organising official visits, networking and building relationships, lobbying and promoting the UK's policy dialogue with Sweden as well as working with Sweden as an EU partner - primarily on Climate and Energy, cyber security, and foreign affairs policy issues in addition to monitoring and reporting on Swedish domestic politics. The role will cover: Proactively collaborating with Sweden and lobbying on: . Climate, energy and environment policy; . Cyber security policy; . Digital Single Market; . Domestic political debate, covering policy and political developments, personalities as well as national developments and Sweden as an EU partner; . Foreign Affairs issues such as mainly South East Asia, all of the Eastern Partnership countries (such as Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus) Arctic Region, and China; and . Commercial diplomacy. Reactively dealing with requests for information or tasks in relation to: . Education, family and gender policy; . Agriculture, food and rural issues; . Social policy and specifically health issues, and welfare issues including benefits; and . Transport policy. The work entails research, reporting and analysis of the Swedish position on these issues; building and maintaining a network of contacts across government departments (Sweden/UK), parliament, academic institutions, NGO's and business communities, and engaging with them to gather information continue to build links between Sweden and the UK. The job also includes organising events and ministerial and official visits from the UK. Some travel for work/training purposes may be relevant. The successful applicant will work in the Embassy's Political and Economic Section and will also work closely with colleagues in government departments in London (mainly within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Department for Energy and Climate Change, DEFRA and Cabinet Office).
Experience and Skills Required . A minimum of three years tried and tested work experience, with an international dimension and within a diverse cultural environment . Excellent language skills in Swedish and English, both written and oral . Excellent communication skills, as well as good influencing and public presentation skills . Demonstrable knowledge of the Swedish political system and society . A good awareness of the EU structure and UK politics . Ideally a well-developed network of contacts in the Swedish administrative and legislative system . Excellent organisational skills and an ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines . Ability to work independently and to take initiatives as well as being a constructive team player . Customer-focused approach and positive attitude . Previous experience of similar work is desirable . University degree, preferably in political science or equivalent The British Embassy is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity.
