The British Embassy in Stockholm is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Trade Adviser to support UK companies in various sectors looking to export to Sweden and also to support activities by collaborating with Embassy colleagues and other Government departments.

The job includes identifying market opportunities and responding to enquiries from individual UK companies interested in Sweden and the Nordic/Baltic markets.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support delivery of bespoke assistance and advice to UK companies across various sectors. (60%)
• Identify leads and opportunities for British business and deliver a range of DIT Market Entry Services to support the delivery of DIT country targets. (20%)
• Support the production of analytical reports, briefs and other governmental communication. Maintain and develop administration and routine tasks of a commercial department. Contribute to the wider DIT and Embassy team in Sweden. (10%)
• Support in organizing and participating at trade events/shows. (10%)

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
• Bachelors/University degree (Business/Economics or relevant subject is desirable but not mandatory);
• A self-starter, with the ability to support on shared objectives with colleagues;
• Strong networking skills;
• Understand and focus on customer needs;
• Fluent (written and spoken) English and Swedish.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
• Some Swedish sector knowledge would be an advantage, within sectors such as Construction, Retail, Financial Services or Life Science;
• Advanced MS Office skills;
• Flexibility to travel domestically and to the UK.

This is a full time (40h per week), fixed-term position for parental leave cover with a maximum duration of 6 months.
Start date: 15 August 2018.
