As UX/UI designer you will join our busy and very experienced global product design team, creating delightful yet powerful experiences for boaters.
You will work with designers, developers, and engineers to deliver rich yet easy to use apps for mobile, web and displays on boats. These user centric software products take complex data, including marine charts, weather, sonar and radar to present the users with clear action orientated user interfaces that enhance the boating experience.
Responsibilities
Own projects from requirements through implementation to subsequent versions
Synthesise project inputs into real user needs with business benefits
Research users, technologies, and expert sources as needed
Collaborate with other designers and stakeholders to develop strong deliverable concepts that fit within the ecosystem
Run and participate in design workshops with experts and users as needed
Create prototypes, mock-ups and proofs of concept that clearly illustrate function, interaction, animation, motion and style
Work closely with developers to create specifications etc. that drive efficient implementation
Embrace feedback to drive improvement
Define reusable components and patterns
Maintain and evangelise common component and pattern libraries
Present to internal teams and key stakeholders
Deliver interaction and visual design specifications that align with the design guides and components
Support development teams as they implement designs to ensure work is carried out efficiently and in keeping with the design intent
Requirements
A well-rounded UX/UI professional who balances good user centric design, business needs, innovation and priorities
Strong experience as a Product Designer or similar role (10+ years) with a strong history of delivering rich digital products
A strong understanding of design fundamentals, including layout, hierarchy, typography, usability and accessibility
An affinity with technology and engineering problems
A natural ability to find the simplicity in complex spaces and flows
A finger on the pulse of digital design trends, especially device user interface.
An exceptional portfolio of digital design material.
Expertise with current tools and software (Sketch, Figma, etc)
Team orientated; strong communication skills to collaborate with designers, developers, users and stakeholders; driving the best solutions
Bonus points for
Marine electronics product design experience
Boaters
Cartography
Automotive experience
Prototyping coding skills
Experience with localisation and languages
Bachelor degree or better in Graphic Design, Information Design, Digital Media Design or other visual arts is a definite bonus, but not mandatory if you can demonstrate the requisite skills and experience
