University lecturer in nursing
Reference number PAR 2025/256
The University of Gothenburg tackles society's challenges with diverse knowledge. 56 000 students and 6 600 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract researchers and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.
The Institute of Health and Care Sciences is a national and international leader in person- centred care, which permeates education, research, and innovation. The department is organised into sections representing academic environments, structured around interdisciplinary profile areas: Care for Long-Term Conditions, Diagnostics and Care in Acute and Critical Conditions, and Learning and Leadership for Health Professions. The department's administrative staff is organised into a dedicated administrative unit. Within the academic environments, collective expertise is integrated to promote quality in education, research, and collaboration.
The department offers professional degree programmes for nurses, radiographers, midwives, and specialist nurses. The undergraduate nursing and radiography programmes lead to both a professional degree and a Bachelor of Science degree. The midwifery and specialist nursing programmes, with various specialisations, result in professional degrees combined with a Master of Science (one-year) degree. Additionally, the department provides commissioned education and standalone courses at an advanced level, offering opportunities for continued studies up to a Master's degree within one of the department's main fields: nursing, radiography, and health education. The department also offers doctoral education in care science.
The position is primarily based within the Clinical Training Centre (KTC) at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences. The Clinical Training Centre, KTC, is a resource for students at Sahlgrenska Academy and it is a simulated care and rehabilitation environment where students undergo method teaching, simulation and teamwork.
Subject area
Nursing.
Subject area description
In the discipline of nursing, knowledge is developed about health, living a good life despite illness or disability, and experiencing a peaceful and dignified death. Nursing is based on needs and problems related to health and illness, as well as daily life, but also on people's resources and ability to manage challenges. In nursing, the focus is not on illness, disease, or disability itself, but on individuals' reactions to and interpretations of their condition. Central to nursing is a close relationship between the nurse, the patient, and their relatives.
Duties
The duties include planning, teaching, assessing, and evaluating clinical skills, simulation- based education, and interprofessional learning for the institute's programmes in a pedagogical and structured manner, as well as continuously contributing to educational development. The role also includes responsibility for methodology and course components in courses delivered at KTC. Given the clinical nature of the teaching, parts of the role may advantageously be carried out within the healthcare system through collaboration agreements to maintain clinical competence and stay up to date with the practical aspects of teaching. Teaching and supervision may also be required in other sections of the institute, as well as common assignments such as supervising degree projects and acting as a contact teacher during clinical placements (VFU). The work is carried out in close collaboration with course coordinators, clinically active supervisors, student assistants, and other staff at KTC. Administrative tasks related to educational activities are included. Other duties may also arise, and the responsibilities of the position may evolve over time.
The role includes actively contributing to achieving the institute's objectives and operational plan, which entails helping to develop the academic environment. Additionally, all employees are expected to participate in planned joint meetings and activities organised by the institute.

The applicant must be able to teach in both Swedish and English.
Eligibility
Eligibility for an appointment as a teacher is specified in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
Completed higher education at a minimum of advanced level in what the employer considers to be a relevant field, demonstrated pedagogical proficiency, and a nursing degree with Swedish nursing registration.
Proficiency in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
