Dalarna University has established CeTLeR, a centre for tourism research, and is now looking to recruit staff.
This is a full-time permanent position. The date of commencement can be immediate and is upon agreement. Place of employment is Borlänge.
Field of Knowledge: General Information
Research and education in tourism is interdisciplinary in nature and includes perspectives from several other disciplines. At Dalarna University business, economics, geography among others are included.
The faculty of tourism is in a phase of development and expansion. We specifically develop our cooperation with external relations within the region and with international academic partners. The current position is expected to contribute to this development especially with key competences within tourism and events.
Work Responsibilities
The current position focuses on teaching and development of the curriculum for Bachelor's program in International Tourism Management and the Master's program in Tourism Destination Development. In addition, there is room for research directed towards Eventmanagement/Eventtourism. One key task is also to work with external relations and develop the network with both business and public stakeholders within tourism and leisure.
Qualifications
According to the Higher Education Ordinance, to qualify as an Associate Senior Lecturer, you must hold a Degree of Doctor or have competence to equal this.
To qualify for this position, you must
• Hold a Degree of Doctor in Tourism Studies, Human Geography, Economics or Business Administration;
• Have completed the courses in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education; (Högskolepedagogisk utbildning) or in another way achieved competence to equal this; and
• Documented experience of teaching within the relevant fields. These fields include Sustainable tourism development in rural areas, Event management and event tourism, Tourism work and mobility
• The sound ability to express yourself both orally and in writing in English since English is the language of instruction and for research;
• Experience teaching in English
It is of credit if you have
• Research experience;
• Experience working in the area of collaboration;
• Experience with administrative work within the area of programme and course development as well as experience of management within universities or colleges.
It would be of merit
• If you can communicate in Swedish
Two key criteria that will be considered are your personal qualities and your reasons for applying as well as your ability and desire to be part of and contribute to the organization within the area of education.
Assessment criteria
The University will take in mind the applicant's ability to perform the duties that come with the position by qualitatively assessing academic and pedagogical ability as well as other qualifications that are relevant for the position.
In accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, chap. 4, there will be as much attention given to the assessment of pedagogical skills as there will be to academic skills.
