The Position
As a UI Programmer on this project you will work with designers and artists to conceive of and implement elements of how the game is presented to the player. Your work will involve implementing menu screens, maps, tutorials, in-game indicators or heads-up display (HUD), special fonts or other graphical elements according to agreed upon design specifications.
Particularly for this role, it is critical that you see your responsibility as delivering a successful end-user experience, together with your team-mates, rather than just handing off technological solutions to content creators. A game is only as good as the interface with the player allows it to be.
Previous experience and proven ability to work with multiple systems and stakeholders is a definite advantage. Finally, as with any other programming role, you will have to be able to balance functional and aesthetic requirements with technical requirements in the areas of performance, stability, memory usage, and interoperability.
Required Qualifications
Experienced in C/C++
Deep reverence for the principles of UI design
Experience with implementing a game UI in a professional setting in Coherent (or similar)
Experience in game industry 2+ years
Desired Experience
Familiarity with html, css and actionscript
Respectable technical art skill
Previously shipped games on modern console platforms
A good eye for graphic design
