The Institute of Biomedicine has a broad and extensive involvement in both research and education. In both of these areas, our focus is with fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of micro-organisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them. Our extensive education assignment comprises teaching at the medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and laboratory technology programmes.
SPECIFIC SUBJECT DESCRIPTION: We are looking for candidates with demonstrated interests and expertise in the areas of the experimental medical sciences. The Institute of Biomedicine houses a large number of research groups working with a wide range of biomedical subjects, which primarily falls into either of four key areas: Infection and Immunology; Cancer and Stem Cell Biology; Genetics and Molecular Medicine; or Cell and Molecular Biology, including Glycobiology.
JOB ASSIGNMENTS: We are seeking to recruit leading junior researchers with particularly outstanding scientific merits and future potential. The successful candidates will primarily work as research group leaders, but will to a smaller extent also contribute to teaching of graduate and undergraduate students (no more than 10%).
