hela Sverige Chalmers is a university of technology in which research and teaching are conducted on a broad front within technology, natural science and architecture. Currently there are approximately 11 000 students and 2400 employees at Chalmers.
The department for Chemical and biological engineering performs education and research for sustainable development, for improved health and quality of life. Our research covers widely within out field, ranging from natural science and bioscience, applied chemistry and biotechnology to chemical engineering. Our educational programs are characterized by technological solutions for improving people's everyday life, and are continuously developed for meeting and pushing societal and industrial development.
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering has a total staff of around 300 persons and a turnover of SEK 270 million.
We are now looking for two Ph.D. students to be placed in the division of Physical Chemistry, within the Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Area of Advance at Chalmers University of Technology. Research in the Nanotechnology and Nanoscience area is typically characterized by a high degree of interdisciplinarity between Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and many engineering disciplines.
Job description
The two research projects will concern various aspects of development and characterization of molecular assemblies for photonic applications in e.g. solar energy conversion and photocatalysis. Time-resolved and steady state optical spectroscopic techniques, as well as electrochemical methods will be used as characterization tools. Documented experience in those techniques is desired but not required.
Required qualifications
The successful candidate should have a M. Sc. in Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Physics, Engineering physics, Nanoscience/technology, Biotechnology or an equivalent education. Knowledge in optical spectroscopy, and/or laser techniques is a merit for the position but not a requirement. Good knowledge in English is required and the applicant should be able to communicate scientific results orally as well as in written form. The applicant is recommended to learn Swedish within a few years.
