Chiesi is looking to recruit a Translational & Precision Medicine Lead Bioinformatician to be part of the Global Clinical Development organization at the company.

In this exciting role, your primary responsibility will be to develop and execute bioinformatics translational research strategies for assets across various stages of drug development in different therapeutic areas. You will play a pivotal role in our organization and collaborate closely with a dynamic team of experts located in Europe and the US to deliver translational science that supports the clinical development of drugs and access of medicine to patients.

If this sounds interesting to you - come join us!

The position is full-time and based in Solna, Sweden. We will evaluate candidates continuously and welcome your application today.

About the position
As a Translational & Precision Medicine Lead Bioinformatician you will be a part of the Translational and Precision Medicine unit within the Global Clinical Development organization. You will report to the Head of Translational & Precision Medicine and work closely together with a dynamic team of highly competent, supportive and dedicated colleagues situated in Sweden (Solna) and Italy.

Main Responsibilities include:

• Develop and apply innovative computational methods to understand complex disease conditions using multi-platform, multi-dimensional -omics, and clinical data.
• Contribute to data projects aimed at identifying biomarkers for indications of interest by integrating high-throughput molecular data, real-world data, and clinical phenotypes.
• Lead the generation of hypotheses from diverse datasets using data science and computational biology approaches.
• Contribute to the implementation of translational research plans to support clinical development programs, focusing on asset-specific strategies such as biological mechanisms of action, patient segmentations, and product differentiation.
• Analyze biomarkers for Chiesi clinical studies in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and Contract Research Organizations (CROs).
• Collaborate with Chiesi's discovery group to ensure alignment regarding preclinical understanding of drug mechanisms, target engagement, and preclinical biomarker readouts.

Your profile
Key Qualifications include:

• MD/PhD or PhD in biological/medical sciences with a minimum of 5+ years' experience in bioinformatics and/or computational biology.
• Proficiency in analyzing NGS and 'omics' data using statistical programming languages (e.g., R/Bioconductor, Python, Matlab, etc.).
• Develop pipelines to facilitate data processing and downstream analysis (e.g. nextflow, snakemake).
• Generate interactive dashboards (e.g., Dash, Rshiny) to facilitate data summarization and sharing across the company.
• Expertise in biomarker discovery, development, and analysis, including drug mechanism research, assay development/validation, and state-of-the-art analysis platforms at the genetic and protein levels.
• Demonstrated track record of applying bioinformatic analysis, including machine learning techniques and network biology, to integrate and analyze omic and clinical data for precision medicine, preferably within respiratory drug development.
• Broad understanding of drug discovery and development, particularly early and late-stage development.
• Strong publication record as a leading author.

We are looking for someone with a strong ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, communicate clearly and effectively, and build open and collaborative relationships. A strong interest in biology, medicine and caring for developing novel therapeutic intervention strategies for patients with unmet disease conditions is essential as well as an ability to liaise with scientists from multiple therapy areas to help define and address biological questions.

If you are ready to bring your expertise and passion to our team, we offer an exciting and rewarding workplace where you can make a significant impact on the lives of patients worldwide.
