Job Description for Transitions Director
Role: Transition Director
Job Summary:
Responsible for the service transition of activities related to the customer infrastructure and application landscape. The main activities are to ensure the smooth transition of services to HCL, that may include knowledge transfer, and asset transformation program. Goal is to perform uninterrupted business with smooth operation handover, and get the team to implement the designed solution target state for the customer.
The Transition Manager is responsible for assessing the transition scope and characteristics of each project, risk & issues, and from this construct and execute an appropriate transition plan. Transition may include people transfer, knowledge transfer, asset migration or lift and shift, or application transformation.
Job Description
1. Responsible for planning and overseeing the transfer of information, assets, people necessary for the support, operation and smooth handover to operations. This includes operational readiness, support documentation and acceptance criteria/checklist.
2. Ensure service transition & transformation are planned and executed to schedule, budget and scope.
3. Build project plans including infrastructure/application support models, change management, learning & communication deliverables
4. Be responsible for build activities, providing effective team leadership, including information flow to and from operations team, and taking timely decisions
5. Monitor the quality of deliverables / change that are made by technical teams
6. Liaise with customer, business and IT partners on planned changes and communicate the progress
7. Work with project manager to establish end-to-end project plan and approach
Primary Skills:
1. Project management
2. General and Team Management
3. Transition and transformation program management
4. Ability to identify and escalate project risk
5. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the process competency principles and practices
6. Develop relationships across the customer IT organization.
Good to Have Skills:
1. Working knowledge of Data Center, Service Desk, EUC, and cloud infrastructure
2. Experience in large IT transformation projects
3. AWS or Azure certification
4. 10+ years experience relevant to this position
