Our head office is located in Gävle, the regions largest city, about a two hour drive north of Stockholm. We have about 40 000 customers that we serve every day. We are doing, working and solving everything from waste management to moving people to making the right choices in recycling. Our offer includes a variety of different services from advisory support in waste management planning and public awareness campaigns to know how in biogas-production.
Job summary
Our Trainee position called "turn waste to value" is developed to create a wider understanding and knowledge of Swedish know-how in modern waste management. It's main purpose is to share our knowledge to people and countries that wants to make a difference. After completion of the trainee program you will have a broader understanding of the Swedish system for waste management.
You will also, through assigned work activities and projects, develop a working knowledge of Gästrike återvinnares day-to-day work assignments which includes collecting, sorting, informing and communicating our offers to our customers.
The Trainee period is 6 month starting in january 2016.
Our trainee program includes:
• Rides along and working together with our waste management drivers to gain knowledge of the collecting process.
• Work at our Recycling centers. This job is mostly done outside and includes lighter sorting assignments, insight in collecting and sorting hazardous waste and it involves an active approach in communicating with our visitors.
• Communication, teaching and sharing our knowledge at the region schools, this is done to all grades ranging from kindergarten to high school.
• Holding lectures and speeches to different NPO's and other organizations.
• Work shadowing at our office to gain knowledge about the administration process - from how our taxes are structured to customer service.
• Promoting Gästrike Återvinnare and our services at different events and in different projects.
• Develop a project plan for export of our knowledge and how it could be implemented overseas.
About you
Demonstrated ability to operate independently, take initiatives, being resourceful, and exercise business judgment to drive performance. You have the ability to execute on strict deadlines and you have a dedicated passion for modern waste management. As a person you are a skilled communicator with the ability to go from plan to action. You are a positive, go-getter and someone who always strives to create new professional relationships.
Required Education and experience:
• University Degree
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience from the field of waste management
• Minimum of 3 years of Project manager experience from the field of waste management
Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
• Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, specifically MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint applications
• Must be willing to work various start times to include early morning hours (for example)
• Must be able to ride in vehicle for up to 8 hours or sit at a desk for up to 8 hours per day
• Excellent people management experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
