Are you a curious person, passionate about traffic safety? Do you want to create a safer tomorrow? Then read on... this is a unique opportunity for you!

At Volvo Group, we are now looking for a Traffic Safety Researcher that will engage in traffic safety research, accident data analytics and investigations, university and authority collaboration and more...

Our offer to you

Working at Volvo Group means being involved in creating a sustainable future for our society. Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) is the technology development division of the Volvo Group, providing all our business areas with technical solutions to support our customers, today and in the future. We highly value our mission of driving prosperity through transport solutions, and safety is a top priority where you now have the opportunity to really make a difference.

We are now looking for you to join us, the Volvo Trucks Accident Research Team (ART) in the Product Safety group, and become a part of our journey towards the Volvo Group vision of Zero Accidents
(https://www.volvogroup.com/en-en/about-us/traffic-safety/safety-vision.html).

What you will work with

As a Traffic Safety Researcher, you will be collecting and analyzing accident data from internal accident investigations and external accident databases, searching for answers to questions that we want to understand and to questions we did not know how to ask.
How to reduce risks for accidents? How to mitigate their consequences?
Connecting the vast vehicle data streams with accident data to find those hard-to-find correlations that can help us to develop technology and collaborate with policy makers that make our roads safer, one step at a time.

In this role, you will be networking and collaborating both internally with development teams for passive and active safety systems, public affairs, regulation development, product planning, data scientists and more, as well as externally with parties and authorities such as Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), SAFER, universities and more.

As Traffic Safety Researcher, you will secure the analytic input of the internationally acclaimed Volvo Trucks Safety Report (https://www.volvotrucks.com/en-en/news/volvo-trucks-magazine/2018/sep/safety-report-2017.html), compile results in reports on a regular basis, support on-site accident investigations as part of Volvo Trucks Accident Research Team, and continuously work with method development for accident data analytics.

Who we are, your new colleagues

These are exciting times with innovative technology developments in electromobility, autonomous driving and much more.

You will join a global group of experienced safety professionals, the Product Safety group, that handle several aspects of safety for Volvo Group Trucks Technology and the complete life cycle of our global range of products. In our group we are safety ambassadors, we enjoy working together and we strive for an open and helpful culture, where we have fun together while doing this.

Your main responsibility will be as an integrated member of the Volvo Trucks Accident Research Team. This is truly a team with heritage and purpose! For 50 years, this cross-disciplinary team has investigated and analyzed countless traffic accidents with the constant strive to improve traffic safety by making our Volvo products and roads safer.
