Are you interested in design and connected car technology? Do you share our passion for people, the environment and our urge to create a superior driving experience? This thesis work will be carried out within the Craftsmanhship & Durability Centre, which is a part of VCC 's Research and Development organization.

Background

In the car industry many different types of clips are used to attach interior and exterior panels. The clips enable an efficient assembly of the panels in the factory. The clips could either be integrated in the structure of the panels or be separate items. Different clips have different purpose and are made of different materials. The design of the clips effects how the panels move and expand for example at the high temperatures that will occur in a car parked in the sun.

Scope

The master thesis work will consist of three parts:
* Create detailed FE-models of different plastic and metal clips
Improve the current modelling of simplified FE-models of clips
* Automatization of the pre-processing step of clip modelling (CAD to FE model)
* Correlation using previous measured data

The master thesis work will provide insight into CAE methods used in the automotive industry. For the finite element analyses Abaqus, which is commonly used in industry today, will be used. Ansa and Meta will be used for pre- and post-processing.

You are expected to start with setting up a detailed plan with your supervisor as well as a time plan that will be followed up during the project.
