Do you have interest, and passion for, Pharmacokinetics, Drug-Drug interactions, Metabolism and Clinical Drug Development? Then a master thesis at Astra Zeneca in Gothenburg within Clinical Pharmacology and Quantitative Pharmacology might be of interest to you! We are a group of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometric scientists with expertise in clinical pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and modeling who work with respiratory and inflammatory diseases such as asthma and COPD. We would like support with the following project:
Map out a typical patient with a respiratory disease for one of our new treatments. The purpose of the project would be to gain a deeper understanding of the following key areas:
What drugs is currently prescribed to a typical patient with this disease, today and in the future?
Of the prescribed medicines, which are the most problematic from a drug-drug interaction perspective?
What other diseases are common in the patient group? What more do we know of the patients in terms of liver function, renal function, and age?

Ansvarsområden
The purpose with this analysis would be to improve our understanding of how to plan clinical studies and drug development programs to ensure that we can always give good recommendations to prescribers, pharmacists and patients about dose and dose adjustments for new treatments.
Methods: Database and literature searches. Summarize and conclude on the research. Basic pharmacokinetic assessments and statistical analysis. Illustration and presentation. Prepare analysis plan and report. Advantage if the work is done in English.
You will be supervised by a mentor who works in clinical drug development to develop new medicines for patients with respiratory and inflammation disease and who is a specialist in clinical pharmacokinetics, modeling, drug-drug interactions and who works in the Clinical Pharmacology and Quantitative Pharmacology Team.
KvalifikationerPharmacy or engineer student or similar on a master level
Interested in the project and can independently search scientific literature and want to go deeper in specific areas to understand relationships and patterns
Good at oral and written presentation (Swedish or English)
Can do basic pharmacokinetic calculations and descriptive statistics
