About us
Volvo Group Purchasing is responsible for sourcing, managing and optimizing the supplies of products and services required by the Volvo Group to run its day-to-day business operations as well as to develop and build its future Products and Services to serve our employees and customers around the globe.
Background of thesis project
Most companies today are looking to digitalise their internal operations and build their digital offers to their customer base. Technology is also included in every products and services we buy today, from the most obvious software applications that we use daily (to design products, book business trips...) to the least obvious things like our coffee machines or connected tools in our factories that are now collecting usage data. .A gap in knowledge on how to handle and buy those connected products has been identified across Purchasing in the sgements and commodities that were traditionally not digitalized. This gap exposes the Volvo Group to a multitude of potential risks, like Cybersecurity, Compliance (GDPR), Intellectual Property (loss/theft of data), and increased costs as a result (integrations, system upgrades and updates...).

Description of thesis work
Together with a cross functional team comprised of HR, Legal and Heads of Purchasing representatives:
Assess the current gaps in Digital & IT Purchasing knowledge across GTP to develop a targeted roll-out plan for competences development
Lead the different workstreams to build and develop content on the key knowledge gaps areas identified (RFP Content, GDPR, IT Security Assessment, IT Agreements...)
Communicate and Roll-out IT Purchasing competences development trainings based on defined plan and MVP concept to GTP community using existing tools
