LeanNova Engineering is a newly established engineering service company situated in Trollhättan, Sweden,created by former engineers from Saab Automobile AB. Together with our main investor Fouriertransform AB, we are developing the company to compete internationally, mainly focusing on the automotive industry. We offer our customers excellence in development and integration of systems and attributes for complete vehicles. We have since the start-up in February 2012 employed more than 80 former Saab engineers with an average working experience of 15 years and we will continue to grow rapidly.
Background
In order to create an optimized electric drivetrain, it is necessary to do initial studies of efficiency and performance. Correct component data is then essential for reliability of the results. This data is however not always available, thus estimation needs to be done based on key metrics of known components such electric motors and batteries.
Objective
The objective is to define a component library of electric motors and batteries to be used for energy analysis with MATLAB/Simulink in different applications. The library will be used for trade off studies to pick the best possible solution for given applications.
Methods
Through literature studies, benchmark, and theoretical analysis determine typical properties of common batteries and electric motors, and create a documented library that can be used in different projects. Part of the scope is to define major parameters that influence motor and battery performance and efficiency. For example: battery chemistry, motor size, etc.
Perform energy analysis with LeanNova's Simulink vehicle model and select the best batteries and motors, based on the component library, for an electric car with specific range and performance targets. Different driving cycles shall be created and evaluated.
Skills & Requirements
• One or two last year students of an electrical or equivalent M.Sc education
• Good knowledge in MATLAB/simulink
