Education background: Mechanical engineering.

Level of thesis project: Master thesis.

Number of students in the project: 2 students

Target:
The project is intended to build a model of a surface rock drill rig hydraulic system and validate it against measured data. The model should be possible to integrate in a Simulink environment. In a second step potential energy efficiency improvements of the system will be simulated and evaluated.

Background:
Simulation is an important tool when evaluating the performance of a hydraulic system. Through simulation the system can be categorised and system alterations can be evaluated at a substantially lower effort than full scale tests.

Mission:
Your mission in this project will be to build a well working and validated model of the hydraulic system in a drill rig. Your inventive ideas of a future hydraulic system will be put to test in the simulation environment you have created yourself. This project will be considered a success when a full working cycle of the drill rig can be simulated with good coherence with real world data and one or more system improvements have been evaluated.

Qualification:
We are looking for applicants with a high level of hydraulic system knowledge and who are interested in computer simulations. Knowledge in Hopsan, Automation Studio or other software for hydraulic system simulation and Simulink is an advantage.

How to apply:
Does this sound interesting, and do you feel this is a match? Log in to the recruitment system. If you are new to the system, you need to start by making a profile. Do not forget to attach your CV and a short letter about your-self, describing why you are applying for this thesis. Please note that we do not accept applications via email. Send your application as soon as possible, but no later than November 14th.
