Test Engineer - Powertrain Controls Systems

At Research & Development you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers around the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. Are you interested in design and connected car technology? Do you share our passion for people, the environment and our urge to create a superior driving experience? Research and Development is the place for you to prosper.

Control Modules Transmission and AWD is our group within the section Powertrain Control System. We have the overall HW and SW responsibility for Volvo Car Group's automatic transmissions, gear shifters, all-wheel drive and other powertrain related control modules. Using progressive technology and engineering, we are active and responsible during all stages of the product development process; ranging from the research phase through concept phase, industrialisation and post production quality support. Volvos vision is to develop cars in a more simulated and theoretical environment. To be able to create new test methods and test environments for the future, it puts demands on our creativity, drive, change willingness and courage.

As a Test Engineer you are responsible for testing and provide test status for our powertrain related ECUs. You will work closely with the suppliers and those responsible for the SW and HW. Most testing will be performed within a lab environment such as test benches, boxcars or using Hardware in the Loop (HIL). However, some testing will be carried out using a complete vehicle which is why a driver's license (B-level) is an absolute necessity. The everyday work is carried out in collaboration with various design departments as well as suppliers which is why good communications skills in a fast moving and international environment are a must.

Main responsibilities

• Testing and reporting to the project organisation
• Development of new test methods and virtual test environments linked to requirements
• Working closely to component designers when writing requirements
• Reviewing and following up on suppliers concerning their test methods as well as test results

Required qualifications

• University degree (B.Sc) in software, mechatronics or relevant work experience
• Experience from embedded systems, control and optimisation
• Experience from HIL, SW development and testing
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Driver's licence (B-level)
• Experience from automated testing is meritorious

Personal qualities
A true curious self starter and a character of initiatives
You have good communication and social skills and a willingness to actively participate in the team's common matters
Great cooperative skills and a customer focus
