As Test Engineer, you will strengthen our team in the field of Solid Mechanics and participate in various R&D projects differing in scope, length and character. You will manage several projects simultaneously and take responsibility for the planning, coordination and execution of experimental activities. These activities may involve the design of fixture, data acquisition and analysis, as well as the development of measurement to extensive in-house testing capabilities in Solid Mechanics as well as a modern computational cluster for advanced modeling.
As our group is expanding rapidly, with emerging and exciting changes as a result, a crucial responsibility of yours will be to contribute in the development of our operational processes and work methods. Although the majority of our experimental work will be conducted independently, you will have close contacts with colleagues, customers and suppliers throughout the projects. Corporate Research offers access to a wide network within ABB and the opportunity to develop your skills in diversified R&D projects on all levels of complexity.
You have a Master of Science with several years of relevant work experience or a Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics. Your background has provided you with theoretical understanding of Mechanics, as well as experience of the statistical design of experiments, measurement techniques and programming. In addition, you have knowledge in operating hydraulic test machines and Matlab or equivalent programs. Needless to say, fluency in English is required, whereas proficiency in Swedish is qualifying.
It is of equal importance that you are a driven person with initiative as well as excellent time management and organizational skills, enabling you to deliver high quality on time. You apply cost awareness as well as a systematic and structured way of working in all your endeavors, whether it concerns the identification of customer needs or mechanical testing. Further, you have a creative approach toward challenges and the ability to solve practical problems, such as the installation of fixtures and test objects. Last but not least, you have a strong interest in technology and operational development.
You will be part of Corporate Research in Västerås. We are the largest research center within ABB with world class expertise and state-of-the-art resources to support innovation in the areas of both power technology and automation. Our multicultural research center consists of approximately 250 scientists from 45 different countries.
