The Test Engineer will be working with qualifying audio solutions for the next generation collaboration and video conferencing products and will be working close with with both HW and SW developers when developing and qualifying new products.
The Test Engineer will be also responsible for testing and validating audio performance of SW components, HW components and complete products and systems.
In order to be successful in the role as Test Engineer you should be thorough, effective, and ambitious with a drive to take responsibility and get things done.
Responsibilities:
• Test by taking a holistic system level approach - pay equal attention to all parts of the audio chain including transducers, acoustics, electronics and the intelligent signal processing software that ties it all together
• Design test methodology and routines suitable for technology, product development and manufacturing processes.
• Investigate and triage bugs to determine root cause
• Collaborate with the audio systems and DSP teams to test features and loop back findings into development process
• Design, development and implementation of production related Automatic Test Equipment
• Deliver efficient and thorough automated testing, by setting up own lab environments, working with 3rd party test labs and test equipment manufacturers, and in collaboration with ODM/OEM
• Shape test processes to ensure exceptional sound quality and audio experience for Google customers
• Take ownership and be a passionate advocate for audio software and product quality
Minimum Qualifications:
• Degree in Electrical or Computer engineering, Applied Physics, or similar
• 3+ years of experience
• Willingness to Travel 5-10%
Preferred Qualifications:
• MS/ PhD in Engineering
• 6+ years of experience
• Willingness to travel +10%
• Experience in test (debug, troubleshooting, failure analysis investigation, test fixtures, analysis SW, test automation, QA processes)
• Experience with audio and acoustic measurements using standard off-the-shelf instrumentation (SoundCheck, Audio Precision, Head Acoustics, Klippel, Bruel & Kjaer, HATS, anechoic chambers).
• Experience in DSP (microphone arrays, beamforming, echo cancellation, noise reduction)
• Coding proficiency (C, C++, Python, Matlab, knowledge of UNIX/Linux environment.)
• Experience of embedded devices (micro controllers and protocols such as I2C, SPI)
• Experience working with OEM partners (FATP, high volume, audio products.
• Passionate about high quality sound
