hela Sverige Company overview
Comminution Reimagined Sweden AB ("CRS") is a dynamic start-up company developing a breakthrough new technology for the mining industry. The company is based in Gothenburg, Sweden and has an active pilot on a mine site in Northern Sweden. The company is growing its global network of industry experts and mining and manufacturing partners.
CRS was formed in 2019 to develop and commercialize a new process and technology for the crushing and milling of rock ores in the mineral processing industry (the technical name for this is comminution). The process dramatically reduces energy use and the overall environmental footprint of mining. CRS is consequently positioned to become an essential enabler in the mining industry's transition to the green economy. The technology has been proven at a laboratory scale and the company is conducting a large pilot test programme at an operating mine in Northern Sweden. Further R&D and design work on the first full-scale demonstration machines is proceeding in parallel, with several potential business cases under evaluation. CRS was awarded a prestigious grant in 2022 to support this scale up of its work.
Tenured Design and Product Development Engineer role description
Comminution Reimagined Sweden AB ("CRS") seeks the assistance of a mechanical engineering graduates or post-graduates with at least 5 years of applicable work experience to join and grow with CRS as we continue our exciting journey to reimagine and reinvent the most energy intensive step in the mining and minerals value chain.
The Design and Product Development Engineer will be ready to take on a 'stand-alone' role in a growing mechanical design team tasked with scaling up and 'industrializing' our pilot mill into a robust, operating mill. This will include:
Liaising with our project partners and early customers to adapt the machine design to site layouts and requirements and develop detailed design specifications.
Developing designs from concepts to final CAD designs for equipment and sub-components, including engineering analyses (e.g. FEA).
Detailing the manufacturing specifications, obtaining quotations and managing vendors to supply and manufacture equipment and components.
Commissioning and prototyping new parts.
Analysing and interpreting operating and test data and documenting in written reports.
Operating and maintaining specialist test equipment where applicable.
Reviewing and documentation operating data derived from the company's pilot plant mills, including logistics, safety and data compilation.
Assisting with certification of the new machines and ensuring that designs meet all relevant technical and safety standards.
Contributing to the general office, engineering and team support activities.
There will be scope for the role to expand over time beyond mechanical design into team management, sales engineering and/or product support (to give just a few examples).
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' experience in design and commissioning of machinery and/or large, precision equipment in one or more of the following areas:
Large, load-carrying steel frames and structures.
Large rotating mechanical and electrical components (bearings, drive shafts, couplings, AC electrical motors).
High volume air extraction and dust collection systems.
Common mining materials handling equipment (conveyors, chutes, weightometers, magnetic separators).
Precision equipment and associated electro-mechanical components.
The wining candidate will have operated in a lead designer role for small projects, and have experience managing suppliers, including a network of relevant suppliers across, and outside of Europe.
General
As a part of the CRS Gothenburg team, you will work in a small, but very dynamic start-up environment. The role requires the ability to work both independently and to fit into, and contribute to, the team. The role requires a good ability to work independently as well as good cooperation and communication skills.
Our projects involve multiple contributors and partners from around the globe, which means daily use of video conferencing and requires good English verbal and written communications. The role is based in Gothenburg will require varying amounts of travel to our test facilities and other mining sights. During our ongoing pilot program (started in 2022), this will be mostly to Northern Sweden but may later extend outside of Sweden as we grow.
CRS faces many exciting challenges, and we therefore want to ensure that our team consists of the right individuals. The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
Aptitude for, and interest in 'hands on' work, with a good attention to detail and accuracy.
Self-motivated and accustomed to working to deadlines.
Flexible approach to working hours.
Comfortable working in typical 'start-up' environment:
Be a part of building a new company.
Be willing to co-develop company systems and process as we need them.
Be flexible and adaptable - 'help wherever is needed' ethos.
Thrive in informal, flat, team-based structure rather than need formal reporting structures.
Expect and cope with regular problem and scope shifts as the development progresses.
Work in a diverse, small team spread across the globe, with a diverse but complementary mix of problem-solving styles and approaches.
Be ready for new challenges and the personal growth that comes with overcoming the impossible!
The successful applicant will be expected to assist the team and take on broader responsibilities in the growing business. These include role modelling good housekeeping and safety practices, managing procurement and suppliers, and contributing to the broader company technical and business programme.
Remuneration
As a part of the CRS team, you be a part of the transition towards a greener mining industry. A competitive package is offered commensurate with experience and qualifications. There will be significant opportunities to grow with the company as the product is commercialized and the company builds a global product development and product support organization.
