MAX IV is a national large-scale research laboratory providing scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world with instruments for research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.
Tasks
The tasks include:
• In close collaboration with both beamline teams and engineering, support beamline installations and maintenance work especially when handling vacuum components, complex mechanical parts and delicate optics.
• Work as an interface between the beamlines and different support functions within Engineering (e.g. the vacuum group).
• Equip and maintain the user workshop.
• Participate in the development, design and manufacturing of mechanical parts for mainly beamline end stations, that is being an important part of the newly formed SEDS (Sample Environment Developmernt and Support) group.
Qualifications
The successful candidate is a technician with several years of documented experience from synchrotron work. The candidate must have a experience of handling and getting acquainted to new complex equipment including thorough practical experience in handling delicate X-ray optics, vacuum components and workshop tools. Proven ability to handle a large number of ongoing parallel tasks, being able to quickly read and understand complex (English) manuals and excellent communication skills with all different functions at the laboratory is required.
