hela Sverige The Technology IP Specialist will support the Volvo CE Technology organization in intellectual property rights and commercial aspects of research projects carried-out in Advanced Engineering & in different phases of the Global Development Process. The role will involve handling commercial relationships with external partners such as current selected suppliers, small technology entrepreneurial outfits, institutes and competitors. This role will support in securing VCE IPR Strategy by focusing on key areas such as electro-hydraulics and drivelines. In the short-term, this position will support Volvo CE engineering teams to shorten their lead time-to-market by helping them in acquisition of technology and licensing of intellectual property such as patents, and in the long-term it is to help build & protect a robust Volvo CE IP landscape.
Much of the work will be carried out in close cooperation with the Engineering Team leaders, purchasing organization and with specific support from Volvo Technology and Volvo CE legal experts.
Core Responsibilities:
Manage IPR in collaboration projects with external partners, i.e. review confidentiality issues from the inception
Draft & conclude development agreements with external partners
Licensing & Acquiring technology
License and acquire IPR and patents
Support the development organization within VCE in all activities regarding IPR issues
Handle non core technology innovations from time-to-time
Handle commercial aspects of external R&D (within AE)
Required Competencies:
Commercial acumen & negotiating skills
Relationship building skills
Able to articulate ownership issues in terms of Background, Foreground IP
Understanding of (license) Access Rights
Constellations of Proto-types, Control SW in IP & business terms
Able to gain trust of key subject matter experts
Able to avoid conflicts and turn them into collaboration
Judgement, e.g. increase awareness for infringements in projects
Excellent Communication verbal and written
Teamwork
Direction Setting e.g. enable Engineers to work better with external partners
Minimum Years of Experience Required:
Excellent spoken and written English
Travel up to 20%
Minimum Education Required:
MBA, M.Sc. Industrial Economics or similar
5+ years experience in development from Technology or Purchasing perspective
Business oriented and understanding for our technology needs
Experience in development agreements and IPR
Experience in strategic work and negotiating
