Technical Specialist Speech Technology and Interaction

The Driver Interaction & Infotainment department is part of the (EECE) Electrical & Electronics & Chassis Engineering unit within R&D. The infotainment department is responsible for the specification, developing and verifying systems and components within the infotainment area. The section Vehicle Infotainment Platform is responsible for the Head Units as a component and areas of speech, Language, Vehicle functions and platform within the Driver Interaction & Infotainment development.
We are taking a strategic step to strengthen the implementation of strategies for technological leadership through the Technical Specialist Program, which purpose is to develop a strong technical workforce dedicated to innovation, product excellence and continuous improvement of core processes. The program will provide employees with a viable technical career path and the career growth opportunities are based on the organisation's need and the individual's technical contribution to the organisation.

As a Technical Specialist Technology and Interaction you will belong to the group Speech & Language. We are responsible for implementation of the speech- and handwriting interaction and text translations. You will be the technical specialist for this group and take lead when it comes to e.g. research and technology, strategy, method development and networking. You will work with the latest technology in order to reach the future characteristics and requirements in a very exciting field.

Main responsibilities

• Keep up with latest trends, and research conducted within the area of speech interaction. Hence, keep a close relationship with Universities that are prominent in this area (e.g. by tutoring master theses)
• Keep track of the supplier landscape & how the competitive set is doing in this area.
• AE project management and actively participate in the strategy process (e.g. SDP, needs/means)
• Support in defining the system architecture, and API:s to other functions, and participate in projects regarding standards such as GENIVI.
• Support the organisation (such as FO, FRR, SA3) in the requirements process.
• Support the organisation with requirements on hardware, such as processors, memory but also on microphones and noise cancellation technologies

Required qualifications

• Preferably a Ph.D or at least a Master's Degree within the area of Speech Technology or Computational Linguistics
• A minimum of 10 years actively working within the field of speech technology in the automotive context
• Vast experience regarding the "hurdles" of speech recognition that are the true challenges within the area and what research is currently on-going to overcome these hurdles
• Experience working in an international environment
• Experience from product development
• Deep knowledge in basic speech technology, such as Automatic Speech Recognition and Text-to-Speech
• Strong interest and background in linguistics, e.g. how different languages pose different challenges
• Strong verbal and writing communication skills in Swedish and English
