At Volvo Cars, we are always looking for world-class leaders who bring out the best in our people. If you want to be part of leading and inspiring our mission to change the automotive experience and make people's lives less complicated, then we have the job for you.
What do we offer?
Solidity is one of seven attribute areas within the Craftsmanship & Durability Department. As Solidity is part of the Craftsmanship Centre, the role Technical Specialist Solidity will be part of the Craftsmanship management team.
To fulfil the Solidity attribute vision; to protect the customer from unexpected noise and provide a solid feeling, we focus on our two sub-attributes:
* Squeak & rattle - Unexpected noise during driving, closing doors, playing music etc.
* Solid feeling - Feedback from operation of all switches, handles, levers and other functionalities that a customer will be exposed to. It is also about tactile stiffness, i.e that panels are perceived as solid.
In the role as Technical Specialist Solidity you will lead the strategy development and work to fulfill the Solidity vision. Together with the team, you develop our attributes in a way that will keep us in the lead of premium car brands. You will also get the opportunity to work closely with educational institutes and other stakeholders within research.
Are you a strategic person with solid scientific knowledge who is ready to lead? Then the position as Technical Specialist at Volvo Cars is the place for you to prosper!
What you'll do
As a Technical Specialist Solidity you will set up the targets for the Solidity attribute area with input from a disruptive world. You will work towards fulfilling Volvo Cars purpose and mission; to be the most progressive and desired premium car brand in the world. You will manage technology roadmaps, lead strategic discussions, and be the go-to-person within VCC and other joint ventures.
You will initiate and lead research projects within advanced engineering and organizational development in order to ensure development of the Solidity attribute area. You will promote Solidity attribute cooperation at different research and educational institutes. In addition, you will secure education material and teaching activities, write conference papers and speak at conferences. Together with the Solidity team, you will also share the responsibility for benchmark activities.
By challenging status quo, you will lead the development of the attribute area and secure that our colleagues understand and prioritize Solidity requirements in the design in order to protect the customer from unexpected noise and provide a solid feeling. You will work both in early and late phases of the product development process to further improve the correlation between virtual and physical development and verification.
Do you fit the profile?
We believe that you have a PhD or M.Sc. degree within Mechanical engineering and documented experience within or closely related to the field of Solidity as well as knowledge within product development, engineering design and CAE. You are a dedicated leader who wants to make a difference.
You are business driven with a customer understanding and are used to align short and long-term goals with the big picture. You ensure that the group works together towards, and strives to reach, the goals. You like to create shared responsibility and an open learning environment.
You are good at identifying unresolved issues and finding the best solution. You promote team effectiveness by encouraging ideas of others and by conveying energy into actions. You are an active listener and foster open dialog while being a great communicator.
