The section Safety Analysis is a part of Volvo Cars Safety Centre which is an analysis and competence center which drives the development of the Volvo core value safety. We cover the areas of passive and active safety together with security, and we have state-of-the-art facilities and equipment e.g. our unique test laboratory. Within the center there are functions for Strategic Safety development and requirements, Traffic accident research and Safety analysis within both testing and CAE. The development is performed in close collaboration with both our internal design departments and external suppliers in a dynamic and international environment.
We are looking for a Technical Specialist who will be responsible for the CAE capability within the area. Important parts of the role are to identify, plan, perform and lead others in method development projects to secure a world leading virtual capability. You will also support the projects directly within the area of interior safety CAE. You will report directly to the Section Manager and be a member of the Safety Analysis Management team.
Main responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate, lead, and evaluate the interior safety CAE method development projects
• Ensure the most efficient product development process for both complete vehicle, system and component level, when it comes to reducing lead-time together with quality and attribute assurance
• Identify, develop and implement new methods for interior safety CAE to ensure high confidence output
• Lead the international coverage of the interior safety CAE method development in the world and ensure that VCC has the area lead
• Ensure an efficient knowledge exchange and collaboration between safety CAE and testing
• Lead development of recommendations for VCC product and programme milestone decisions based on safety CAE
• Assist as technical expert and support senior management teams in quality issues regarding the area of interior safety
• Act as senior tutor to expand knowledge in the area of virtual crash analysis within VCC
• Ensure an established contact and collaboration with research centers and academic institutions outside the company
Required qualifications
• Minimum Master degree, preferable Ph. D
• At least 10 years experience of interior safety CAE analysis
• High level of theoretical experience and knowledge within the area of interior safety CAE
• Presentation experience
• Experience of leading and developing teams
• Fluent English, spoken and written
