Technical Responsible for Grain, Plastic and Interior Colours

Interior Engineering consists of 4 section teams with 35 to 80 employees, each focused on delivering world class interiors for our future cars. We are responsible for all product documents defining the interior of the car. We develop the instrument panel, tunnel console, door panel and interior trim in-house with our own engineers. In the areas of seating and restraints, we use Design & Development at suppliers and they develop the systems with our guidance. We are responsible for all phases of the development, i.e. annual work, advanced engineering, concept development, industrialization, quality and cost reduction. Attributes connected to Interior Engineering are seating comfort and interior illumination. We work in an cross functional work process with Purchasing, Design, Manufacturing, Product Planning and of course the other development units within R&D. The interior of the car is where you create a state of wellbeing, excellent customer satisfaction and a motivation to buy a Volvo again!

At Surface Material, we develop all surface material in our cars. Together with Design, the developing teams and our suppliers, we are responsible to make sure that our materials are producible and fulfills all necessary testing. We work with all visible materials in our cars such as textile, leather, plastic grain, carpets and decos. Working at Surface Material will mean working closely together with our part and material suppliers as well as manufacturing and assembly sites. Close cooperation will also be with our Product Design Department, Product Planning and the development teams and car programs.

We are now looking for a Technical Responsible that will be responsible for plastic, grain and interior colours. Together with other teams within our Volvo Car organisation, you will be developing our future materials.

Main Responsibilities

• Delivery of materials and masters with correct appearance and haptic to our new car programs
• Contact with suppliers and system designers
• Making and keeping time plans of the deliveries
• Contact with product design
• Constantly work with developing our processes to be more efficient and World Class within your area

Required qualifications

• University Degree within materials technology, or equivalent experience
• Previous work experience within relevant area
• A good colour sight/vision
• Good knowledge in English, both oral and written

Personal qualities

• Ability to work independently
• Very good communication and cooperation skills
• Customer oriented and business focused
• Structured and well planned
• Strong ability to build up and use your network
