Within Group Trucks Operations the global function Quality, Engineering & KD function will support operational excellence by:
• Develop and maintain Quality systems and tools
• Lead the develop of global strategies and plans for manufacturing processes
• Establish clear product requirement and be the interface to GTT
• Secure excellence in Project execution and Product introductions
• Develop and implement global way of working within Quality, Engineering & KD
• Develop global expertise and resources in critical competence areas

Technical Preparation Engineer Cab BIW - Quality, Engineering & KD, Group Trucks Operations

The position holder will be responsible for a dedicated area of the Cab and will be the main interface towards GTT Cab Engineering in all Product related issues. The position holder will report locally to the QEKD Cab Director.

Mission

The mission of a TPE is to deliver a product that is secured & aligned with Volvo Production System and Volvo Operations Concept. The TPE will establish clear and commonly shared product requirements for one?s dedicated area of responsibility.

Main activities and responsibilities

The TPE has the responsibility to:
• Secure that product development delivers on the Manufacturing project targets
• Set technical requirements on product development
• Evaluate and recommend product concepts
• Contribute to the development of and verify the technical solutions
• Manage internal ?GTO Product? coordination
• Provide input on assembly time impact to project
• Manage product documentation
• Lead activities to define implementation solutions within GTO in early stages
• Support activities within GTO on implementation solutions in late stages
• Drive product problems resolution process
• Lead the implementation of product quality improvements identified in the field for GTO
• Manage and develop knowledge in area of responsibility

Critical competencies for the position

Education / Training:
• Master Degree of Science or equivalent by experience, preferably in Mechanical engineering

Experience:
• Target of 5 years of automotive experience, preferably in truck industry
• Preferably with experience of working in projects.
• Experience within production engineering and cab BIW.

Technical competencies:
• Knowledge and experience in the design and assembly of automotive products.
• Knowledge of product development and product documentation systems
• Knowledge on use of quality tools eg.: DFA, P-FMEA etc. and understanding of manufacturing quality control methods.

Languages:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Personal Skills:
• Since this is a global organization and we are supporting plants in all regions the ability to travel and work in other countries and cultures is a must.
• Be a network builder and team player in a multicultural environment, have good negotiation skills, take initiatives, drive to deliver on time in full.
