The position is preferably located in Gothenburg, Sweden and reports directly to the Director, Sourcing. The role has a hybrid work model (combination of remote work and on-site work) and worldwide travel is required, approximately 80 days per year.
Main tasks and responsibilities
As a Technical Manager, Cost Competitiveness, your primary focus will be to explore all aspects of control systems design across the BL's to find possible areas for improvement and cost savings. You will work with strategic suppliers in finding cost reductions by design, component selection, and adapting to supplier
production capabilities as well as Control Systems Engineers and Product owners to encourage alignment and build a culture where design and cost is in focus. A crucial part of your role will also involve studying BL control systems cost and design to find synergies and possible cost down by utilising well proven suppliers and components as well as studying component BOM's for both hydraulic and electric to identify components that can be standardised across the BL's to enable a more strategic approach to sourcing.
Beyond that, you'll also:
Cooperate with BL's to develop and focus on standardisation and or modularization.
Support sourcing and BL's in identifying alternative components enabling dual sourcing while increasing flexibility in the choice of components when lead times increase.

What you'll need to succeed
Education:
M. Sc, B. Sc (Econ) Diploma in Engineering; higher technical education or long documented experience.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience.
Control systems experience with a solid background in Electric and Hydraulics.
Experience in a managing position within technical or project management.
Competencies:
As a person you possess the ability to work independently with time estimation and planning against set performance goals and run multiple projects simultaneously.
You also understand route causes and can communicate with teams located in different countries. You are excellent in assigning work, following-up and also meeting the specified timing requirement. You have a commercial mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo.
You are fluent in English, both verbal and written. You also have a good knowledge of MS Office and Google tools as well as:
Good knowledge of cost drivers in our business.
Good knowledge of the Sourcing and Supply Chain process.
Knowledge within product costing.
Knowledge about the design process.
