We are now looking for a new "Technical Leader within advanced Vehicle Concepts & Architecture Integration", are you up for the challenge?

You would belong to the section Mechanical Architecture & Concept, a part of the business unit Vehicle Hardware. Our responsibility is to lead the Mechanical Integration Work cross functional (involving Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing, Service and Attributes) in order to deliver robust and feasible Vehicle concepts in Architecture and Pre Programs.

What you'll do

You will contribute to Volvo Cars overall vision by setting the technical strategy, how to step by step reach our overall targets to be developed and maintained in cooperation with strategy functions within the company. You will create vision, mission and strategy documentation within Mechanical Integration, Vehicle and Architecture development. Further, you will lead and mentor continuous development of Design Guidelines.

You will be the go-to-person, proactively advising management and provide engineering guidance. You will lead cross-functional work with adjacent Product & Quality departments, Program Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing and Service. You will have a crucial part in creating vehicle and architecture solutions with increased capability and bandwidth to meet future demands, i.e. cost, design, energy efficiency, daily life usage, manufacturing.

You will develop methods and tools for evaluating what implications the introduction of novel technologies have on market, product and production infrastructure in advance of making decisions where cost is committed and effectively. You will also develop tools for evaluating consequences for alternatives on product. You will be responsible for benchmarking of overall technical performance for relevant areas and for develop ownership of possible tradeoffs and optimization within critical areas.

We will expect you to initiate and lead AE/Research projects and Operational Development in order to ensure readiness. You will be responsible for delivering applications to research and innovation projects that are co-financed by the authorities. You will participate in seminars, conferences and conventions. You will also take an active part by deliver education material, teaching activities and being a speaker at the different events. On your response will also be developing and maintaining good relations with universities through supervision of doctorate programs, thesis works etc.

Do you fit the profile?

We see that you have a M.Sc. (preferable Phd) degree in Product Development, Mechanical Engineering or similar and extensive experience from mechanical integration work in multiple program executions within architecture and vehicle development. You possess comprehensive experience from research and development, i.e. concept & industrialization development, method development, modelling & simulation and evaluation.

You have demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge in relevant technical area for many years and are capable of keeping a Systems Engineering development approach, aligning requirements and solutions through engineering judgement and CAE.

You are a recognized leader and technical expert in the Mechanical Integration area, you have the capability to initiate, develop and lead cross-functional work. You are a creative problem-solver that inspire others. Active listening, dialog and feedback makes you a good communicator. You have a solid network in your field and the capability to teach, coach and mentor.

You are business and performance driven, with a costumer understanding. You like to keep a holistic view and conceptual thinking. Further, you possess excellent English skills, verbally and in writing.
