Technical Expert Vehicle Dynamics & Motion Control

The department Active Safety & Vehicle Dynamic Functions delivers world leading active safety and vehicle dynamics functions and has a clear ambition to extend that position in the future. We have several "world first" functions in production today within the area of Collision Avoidance and Driver Support and our next step is to take the lead in the new exciting area of Automomous Driving. The department consists of about 85 persons organized into four groups. The group Vehicle Dynamics & Motion Control is responsible for the development of functions and software within the area of vehicle dynamics and motion control. This area covers both normal driving control, limit handling control and vehicle state estimation.

We are now looking to strengthen our team with a Technical Expert Vehicle Dynamics & Motion Control. The field of vehicle dynamics and motion control includes significant challenges in having an optimal control and coordination of actuators, such as brakes, steering and powertrain. Introduction of new sensors and actuators will also be a challenge and relies on getting vehicle state estimates with an appropriate confidence. Examples of crucial estimates are road friction, vehicle side-slip, tire forces and vehicle mass. The development of functions within this area requires deep knowledge in actuator mechatronics, vehicle dynamics control and functional architecture.

Main responsibilities

• Maintain and develop relations with universities and authorities
• Attract and supervise master thesis- and PhD students
• Initiate and lead research projects and advanced engineering projects
• Act as technical advisor to line organization, provide expertise and strategic directions
• Proactively participate in seminars and conferences
• Secure competence development by proactively providing education, mentoring and coaching on technical matters.
• Global surveillance, incl. customer needs and benchmark
• Be a go-to person regarding vehicle dynamics and motion controls within Active Safety

Required qualifications

• M.Sc. (or higher) degree covering Control Theory, Mechatronics, Vehicle Dynamics or similar
• Demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge in relevant technical area for at least 10 years
• Comprehensive experience from research and development, i.e. concept & industrialization development, method development, modelling & simulation and evaluation
• Experience from vehicle testing in relevant technical area
• Comprehensive experience from innovation of functionality
• Willingness and capability to teach coach and mentor others. Great communication skills
• Excellent skills in English, both verbally and in writing
• Publications in relevant technical area (paper, patents)
• Driver's license type B

• Strong communications and interpersonal skills
• Good understanding of working in a corporate environment
• Ability to manage multiple tasks against competing deadlines
• Analytical skills
