Technical Expert Light Aspect Simulation & Visualization, Exterior Lighting Concept
Exterior development is looking for new employees! If you are passionate about cars and have automitve competence within Exteriors and Lighting, than we have a great opportunity for you!
The first thing you will notice on a car is the exterior with it 's front and rear lighting. The Exterior Lighting is a key communication point for Volvo Cars towards the customers, and this will even increase in the future, due to more advanced technique and styling. Would it not be exciting and challenging, to be the one who predicts the aspect of light when everything is still in digital, using state of the physics based softwares to create photo realistic virtual prototypes?

At Exterior Lighting concept, you are part of a global cross functional development team with the task to develop and launch Volvo Car Groups coming car projects. You will develop, deliver and maintain a corporate strategy for physics based exterior lighting simulation and visualization. Scientifically secure that exterior lighting department have and maintain competitive state of the art tools for simulation and visualization. Perform research within the field of engineering design. The target is to create a virtual environment where humans are making a similar subjective judgement and decision making on virtual lighting prototypes as they do on a physical lighting products by trigging the relevant human physiological and psychological response in the virtual environment. Note that Volvo Cars is one of "the best in class" in lighting visualization and we are in search for the best talents within the field who would like to grow and explore even more in this constantly developing jouney of automotive industry!
Main responsibilities
* Act as Business Application Manager for exterior lighting specific development software solutions
* Execute road to math transition by improvement and new development of advanced methods for virtual verification within the field of light simulation and visualization
* Attend global events and working parties to build knowledge and relations with actors, suppliers and universities within the field of light simulation and visualization
* Assimilate aspect simulation and visualization trends from automotive and other areas and evaluate their potential to be applied at Volvo cars
* Enforce requirements on further development of high power computing capability and effectiveness to meet increased demand of visualization tasks
* Act as spokesperson regarding exterior lighting visualization with Volvo senior management and be a "go to person" for exterior lighting simulation, visualization and optics related questions
* Have a leading role in testing, applying and visualizing advanced theories of lighting technologies and designs
* Position Volvo cars as a company to be a well known within the international community for virtual exterior lighting verification excellence and innovation
Required qualifications
* At least B.Sc. degre within technical area or equivalent with relevant work experience
* At least 5 years experience in the functional area working for an OEM or leading supplier within the field of exterior lighting
* At least 5 years working experience within visualization
* Developed or led some part of a project that defined and implemented one new or enhanced state-of-the-art technology for functional features for products and processes
* Demonstrated improvements in customer satisfaction, reduction in warranty, total cost reduction
* Recognized technical expertise in Exterior lighting, on both, component and system level
* Working knowledge of visualization tools, both, in exterior lighting aspect and in general
