Connected, electric, highly-automated and autonomous vehicles are making their way into our lives, and it's happening fast! Nevertheless, this paradigm shift in the automotive industry introduces new security and safety challenges that used to be more associated with "IT Security" and "Aviation Safety", respectively. This is where the Cybersecurity and Functional Safety Group comes into the picture not only to strengthen prevailing safety expertise and culture but also to address contemporary security and safety risks of electrical and/or electronic systems of vehicles and transport solutions.

About the position
We are aiming for bridging an upcoming gap in functional safety team with your personal touch in defining our future direction. This position relies on your in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of working with functional safety and ISO 26262 to be able to "Challenge the Impossible!" in realizing "Vision Zero".

You lead the ISO 26262 Competence Center at Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) that supports Volvo Group with all aspects of functional safety and ISO 26262 - from external standardization and technology development to internal competence development, process development and product development. You contribute as technical specialist and expert in functional safety within GTT and Volvo Group. This position offers you possibility of representing Volvo Group in relevant standardization initiatives and committees.

You contribute to all phases of product development with subject-matter expertise in functional safety and ISO 26262. You support activities to specify and review technical concepts and solutions to meet functional safety requirements of electrical and/or electronic systems of our products. You provide guidance to functional safety managers to prepare functional safety plan and perform relevant activities according to the ISO 26262 requirements. You coach engineers so that they can efficiently perform ISO 26262 specific activities such as hazard analysis, functional safety concept and technical safety concept.

You play a central role in developing, maintaining and continuously improving ISO 26262 related processes, methods and tools within GTT. Your responsibilities include development and maintenance of ISO 26262 related guidelines, templates and instructions. You prepare course materials and deliver trainings in ISO 26262 and functional safety for our employees. You develop and improve the ISO 26262 knowledge within Volvo Group and lead the global ISO 26262 Community of Practice (CoP).

Cybersecurity and Functional Safety Group is Center of Excellence and Expertise in Product Cybersecurity and Functional Safety within Volvo Group Trucks Technology. The group consists of 12 technical specialists, experts and rookies in cybersecurity and functional safety.

Required qualifications
M.Sc. Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or other relevant technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
Well-recognized experience of working with all aspects of functional safety and ISO 26262 standard
Well-recognized experience of product development in the automotive industry, including sound knowledge of electrical and software architecture
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Experience of technical/project leadership in a cross-functional and multicultural work environment
Experience of working in national and international standardization committees
Recognition and network in ISO 26262 communities of practice both locally and globally
