Technical Expert Exterior Lighting
Your Mission
If you are passionate about cars and have automotive expertise within Exteriors and Lighting, then we have a great opportunity for you as our new Technical Expert within Exterior Lighting, for vehicle lighting systems and regulations.
The first thing you will notice on a car its the exterior with it 's front and rear lighting.
Exterior Lighting is a key communication point for Volvo Cars towards the customers, and this will even increase in the future, due to more advanced technique and styling.
At Exterior Lighting, you are part of a global cross functional development team with the task to develop and launch Volvo Car Groups coming car projects. We are a team of 50 who are driven by security, design and brand identity. Volvo Cars is one of "the best in class" in lighting visualization and we are in search for the best talents within the field, who would like to grow and explore even more in this constantly developing journey of automotive industry!
What's in it for you?
This role is responsible for delivering lighting performance strategy aimed to fulfil IIHS/USNCAP/CNCAP rating and to keep Volvo Cars among the leaders in the industry while influencing and attaining legal requirements and ratings.
This role also includes development of rating related requirements for components, systems, complete vehicles and processes for all applicable rating organizations.
You should also monitor trends and predict future changes in rating methods.
As our technical expert, you will attend, help to coordinate and contribute your expertise at global events to build knowledge and relationships with actors, suppliers and universities within the fields of rating and light performance.
You will initiate, lead, balance and optimize research and advanced engineering assignments within the lighting area, along with develop targets, methods and equipment for road to math transition of AHB (adaptive high beam) development/verification.
You will be a key player in developing and re-establishing competitive AHB functionality on existing markets as well as SAE which is a new AHB market with unique legal and customer requirements.
Do you fit the profile?
You should have a BSc University Degree, or equivalent work experience. MSc. University degree is a plus. You should also have approximately 5 years of experience with light performance/rating/AHB as well as OEM and/or leading supplier within the field of exterior lighting.
You should have developed or led several projects that defined and implemented new/enhanced state-of-the-art technology for new/enhanced functional features within products and processes.
In this experience you would have been recognized for, and demonstrated, technical expertise in exterior lighting, on both a component and system level.
Personal qualities

Further, you should be open-minded, curious and able to adjust to changes. Last, but not least, you should be a team player who has good communication and collaboration with different stakeholders involved in the projects.
