The section Driver Assistance and Active Safety Function A&V is a part of Volvo Car Group Vehicle Dynamics and Active Safety Center, which drives the development of the Volvo core value - Safety. We are responsible for analysis and verification of Volvo Car Group's Driver Support and Active Safety functionality and the attribute Driver Assistance. The Section is responsible for A&V during all phases of the product development. From advanced engineering, concept development to industrialisation and quality issues. Approximately 85% of all the functionality is developed from the start by Volvo Car Group and there is a large focus and attention on our deliveries. We work very close with the design department in teams where each team focuses on related functions. The section consists of 18 persons and has a positive and engaging culture.
Volvo Car Group is now taking a tactical step to strengthen the implementation of strategies for technological leadership through the Technical Specialist Program, which purpose is to recognise the needs to develop a strong technical workforce dedicated to innovation, product excellence and continuous improvement of core processes. The function of this program is also to provide employees with a viable technical career path, based on the needs of the organisation as well as the individual's technical contribution.
As a Technical Expert - Driver Assistance and Active Safety Test Methods you will develop existing and new verification methodologies. It will be within your role to initiate and lead research work to improve current and define new methods. As a Technical Expert you will be part of a network cross Volvo Car Group, R&D that will give you excellent possibilities to develop your technical- as well as leader skills.
Main responsibilities
• Develop methods and methodologies and lead the research work
• Secure virtual verification readiness by initiating and supervising Advanced Engineering and EU projects
• Ensure that the verification part of the "factory" has all relevant tools available to be as efficient as possible.
• Support in contacts with suppliers
• Be a go-to person within the area
Required qualifications
• MSc degree with mechanical engineering, physics, controls, mechatronics or electrical
• More than 5 years of experience within relevant areas
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Diver's license (B-level)
• PhD within relevant area is meritorious
• An asset would be knowledge in Simulink/Matlab and relevant CAE/Simulation
• Knowledge in vehicle testing and experience in/from function testing, analysis and verification is meritorious
• Experience in function development verification methods and tools would be an asset
• Experience from distributed and embedded systems is meritorious
