Technical Expert Diagnostics

The section Diagnostics and ECU Platform is responsible for the technologies in the electrical platform that forms the base for e.g. network design, communication technology and the diagnostic system. The group Diagnostics and Dependability is responsible for designing in-vehicle diagnostic systems and delivering guided fault tracing methods to Volvo's global network of workshops. Moreover, the group is home for Volvo's Competence Center within the Functional Safety area.

The Volvo Technical Specialist Program is an internationally recognized career path and a vital contributor to the implementation of strategies for technological leadership. We are now looking for a Technical Expert - Diagnostics. Diagnostics is becoming a strategic focus area within Volvo Car Group, with great growth and development potential. As Technical Expert you will lead Volvo's strategic direction for diagnostics. You will be part of a central instance with excellent insight in ongoing development programs within Volvo Cars, and you will contribute to development of diagnostics in an international context.

Main responsibilities

* Maintain a road-map for diagnostics within Volvo Car Group, including strategies for future technology development
* Being a Volvo Car Group spokesperson for the area
* Support Volvo's organization with facts and experiences, scientific and strategic input
* Define research projects and working with academia and partners
* Network with external organizations and peers
* Cross-functional lead of strategies and diagnostics development efforts
* Collaborate and represent Volvo Cars in the international standardization community with regards to diagnostics
* Lead global surveillance, including customer needs and benchmark
* Teach, mentor and coach, secure up-to-date competence in continuity

Required qualifications

* MSc degree in Electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent experience
* At least 10 years of work and a recognized leadership within the area of vehicle diagnostic systems
* Experience of diagnostic usage in aftermarket, manufacturing and development
* Experience in all development program phases from Pre-Program through launch
* Demonstrated capability and willingness to teach, mentor and document technical knowledge, e.g. conference papers, education material
* Demonstrated personal contribution in development of advanced technologies/ processes and transfer of technology.
* Demonstrated capability to lead an international team in the delivery of technical objectives
* Demonstrated initiative and capability to provide leadership/support to peers and management within diagnostics, to assure the delivery of transfer of technology and/ or programs.
* A high level of communication skill and teamwork, e.g. invited as speaker
* Excellent skills in English, both verbally and in writing
